Help Us In The Fight Against Food Waste

We were incredibly sorry to hear that after only a few months after its launch in Australia, the mobile app Too Good To Go has decided to shut up shop, citing that ' the take-off didn’t match their ambitions when they started their adventure in Australia'. The app, which matched hungry buyers to cafes and groceries with surplus food, was hugely successful in our eyes as it allowed us to feed people with food that would normally have ended up in the bin. And tell you what, we really hate throwing food in the bin.

It's a real shame to hear that a company so set on ending the fight against food waste threw in the towel on their mission so early on. In the few weeks The Food Repository was part of Too Good To Go, we packed up at least 10-15 bags of food that would otherwise have been wasted. It might not be a mountain, but that food is now in someone's belly rather than in our rubbish bin.

So let's not stop fighting just yet. Most days, we still have food that's nearing its use by or past its best before date, and we'd really like for it to end up in someone's belly. By purchasing the Too Good To Go: Mixed Goodie Bag you'll be joining us in the fight against food waste + save a chunk of money on a surprise bag of food: for only $10 we'll pack a bag with minimum $30 worth of deliciousness.

We offer two options:

  • Select 'Collect in Store' at checkout and we'll put together a mixed bag of fresh food e.g. fruit and veg, yoghurt, milk, soups or ready meals together for you. These foods will be approaching their use by date and thus will need to be consumed the same day. Your bag will be ready to collect in store same day from 5-7pm during the week or 3-5pm at the week-end.
  • Select regular shipping and we'll put together a mixed bag of food that's past their best before date. They're still perfectly ok to eat, but the producer reckons they may have changed a touch in flavour.... like a good French wine, we say!

There's no guarantees as to what's included in the bag, but we promise to make it worth your while.
