A few years ago, our corporate career took us to India where we discovered Chai, and it was love at first sip. The incredible blend of spices reminds us of the taste of warm pumpkin pie; it's like a hug in a cup. We never quite managed to recreate that same taste since coming back to Australia, until we discovered Chai Walli. This fresh blend of ingredients is as authentic as it gets, hand blended in Melbourne.
Brew for 1: Add 1 heaped tsp to a pot of water over heat and brew for 2-3 mins. Add milk and brew for another 2-3 mins. Add raw sugar or coconut sugar to sweeten.
If you want a caffeine-free version to enjoy in the evening, you can find it here.
About Chai Walli
Uppma is the granddaughter of a doctor specialising in spices. She was born in the land of spices and learnt how spices balance, their properties and the art of chai.
A backpacking trip to Europe inspired her to start Chai Walli. Chai Walli is an Indian term given to a female Chai maker. She'd be brewing chai at hostels, and found that the aroma drew other travellers to the kitchen. Upon her return to Melbourne, she knew she had to share her recipe. Corporate solicitor by day, Chai blender by night, Uppma has perfected the art of Chai making and wants everyone to learn how to make Chai the proper way.
