About The Husk Mill

The Husk Mill was founded by best friends Elaina Downey and Cherylea Browne who discovered the benefits of the cacao bean when looking for a natural way to manage serious individual health conditions they both developed in 2014. 

After appreciating the effect of theobromine (an alkaloid that naturally occurs in chocolate and is a close chemical relative of caffeine) on their own conditions and followed by much research, they set about creating a delicious tea which would allow them to share with others a beverage that not only tastes great but can also improve overall health and well being. Cacao Husks are the fibrous outer shells of the cacao bean, which when steeped make a lovely tisane. During the chocolate making process, cacao beans are harvested, fermented and dried. The beans are poured into a winnowing machine, where they're cracked open and the nibs are separated from the husks. The husks sourced by Elaine and Cherylea are grown right here in Australia.
